This is the type of imagery, with its play of opposites and glowing light, that originally drew me to your work.
The mysterious-looking object in #027 appears to be drenched in blood: I find it both repellent and seductive (a good thing) and am curious to know what the subject actually is. #039 looks like a plant but we could just as well be gazing up at the heavens.
The dead bird reminded me of Emma Kisiel's work. It's very different than yours, but worth checking out: http://www.emmakisiel.com
Thanks Alan! The "blood soaked" object is a piece of fiberglass insulation found on sidewalk. It has clitoral overtones to me and the blood soaked appearance would fit with that. The plant is actually raging waters of Fishkill Creek near Roundhouse. It was a good day of making the work.
Ahhh, thanks for the explanations. It would be so interesting to know what others see in #027. It's an image that might just as easily be a blank screen, considering what we project onto it.
