I refer to this as "The Tree." It's a Catalpa Tree. Someone, or maybe multiple someones, tried to kill this tree, which continues to leaf out in abundance. It's a spiritual touchstone for me. It embodies the qualities of perseverance and endurance. I visit it periodically to remind myself to keep trying.
I talk about my photowalk practice as a daily dipping into the universal hum. This is a quintessential hum photograph. I have learned that these are worm trails. They happen in Beacon, NY too. They are most abundant on the Denning's Point trail at certain times of the year.
The rock. It sits outside the cottage we stay in when we go to Block Island. I photograph it most days I am on the Island. I think of it as a spiritual point of reference. Conditions around it change, but it doesn't. At least not in a way that I can perceive.
