I love the photographic work of Duane Michals. I know I am not alone in this. From the group of photographs published in The Eye of Photography, this one. By itself, the photograph speaks volumes. The brief reminiscence makes clear what we already suspect from the photograph. that the relationship between fathers, mothers and their children can be difficult and complicated. Hell, lots of Hollywood film production dollars have been expended on the subject. A multitude of therapist hours. Plenty of ink too. It's one of those universals. Father/son, mother/son, father/daughter, mother/daughter, brother/sister. The building block relationships of society.
